Thanks to the warm weather we’ve been having of late – not to mention the desire to get outdoors, most of us have been spending far more time in our garden than usual.
And in doing so we may have noticed it looks a bit ‘tired’ and could do with a refresh. We don’t mean the plants and other living stuff – but rather, our garden décor. Either that or we just fancy a change. So, to inject some new glamour into your garden here are some trending touches:
Pull Out Some Fab Planters
Planters and plant pots are a great way to bring living blooms and other lovely smelling ‘living things’ onto your patio area, terrace and balcony. Plant and grow them yourself in pretty pots, or buy ‘ready-made’ from a garden centre and simply replant in your favourite planter.

Make Your Garden Bigger With a Mirror
These days there are so many beautiful garden mirrors to choose from. Whether you want ornate, gothic and arched or plain and contemporary, you’re bound to find something which fits with your outdoors theme. The beauty of this idea is that mirrors make your garden seem larger than it really is.

Fake it Until You Make it
Haven’t been organised enough to nurture some fine plants for your patio area or terrace? And anyway, you don’t have the time – or inclination, for that matter for their upkeep? Right, so then you’re a great candidate for the range of super-realistic faux plants that are around just now. These can be used outside as well as inside, as long they’re kept in well ventilated areas so they can dry out if they get wet.
Bring the Indoors Out
Many of us have been making the most of our additional outdoors ‘room’ this year and throughout lockdown, when the weather was warm enough (and if it wasn’t, we had our fire pit or chimenea to give us a bit of heat).

So, what do our outdoor rooms consist of? Well, we have our ‘soft’ patio furniture, of course, as well as plenty of cushions and throws for cosiness and comfort. Then there are twinkling lights in the form of lanterns. Nothing wrong with putting down a rug or two either.
Jazz Up Your Outdoor Walls
No, we don’t mean segregate yourself from the neighbours with a wall (although that’s completely your choice). Rather we mean do something with your wall – whether it’s brick, wood or bamboo panelling. You could for instance, string up some fairy lights, but really give it focus by hanging an ornamental wall planter, some fun metal signs, putting up a shelf or adding decorative metal hooks from which to hang well… anything you like really.

Decide on Garden Decor
Small statues are a popular choice for adding interest to an outdoors area. A Buddha, for instance, is perfect for a zen area of the garden where you can just ‘chill out’ and even do a little meditation.

Conversely, it could be that you want to turn a corner of your outdoors into a garden room for the kids (certainly, that will make your indoors feel more ‘chilled’).
Get into Garden Zoning
Another big trend – and has been for a few years now – is to zone your garden so that you get the most out of your outdoor space.
That could mean having an activity area (i.e., the kids’ playroom or your meditation space), a sitting, sociable area where you chat with friends and a cooking area where the BBQ sits.
